How to Holiday at Northstar
Seize the Season at Northstar, CA
Fresh baked s’mores, outdoor ice skating, Champagne toasts, horse-drawn sleigh rides, fireworks and hot cocoa. These are a few of our favorite things.
A Family Day Full of Holiday Traditions , opens in a new window
First things first, get outside and enjoy the views of the snow covered mountains and crisp Tahoe air. Build a snowman, throw a few snowballs and celebrate winter.
Next, head up to the Manzanita (at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe) to enjoy a healthy brunch before riding the complimentary Highlands Gondola back down to the Village. Try out snow tubing on the Overlook, make some last minute gifts at the Village Candler Shop and share a warm crepe at Euro Shack.
By evening (Fridays, Nov 30th - Dec 21st) the Village transforms into a winter wonderland featuring horse-drawn sleigh rides, outdoor ice skating, pictures with Santa and s’mores and hot cocoa by the fire pits. This is the perfect opportunity for the last minute holiday card picture. Stroll through The Village while the hum of holiday music plays and the smell of fresh baked s’mores fills the air.
Extend your evening by grabbing a table at Tavern 6330’ where our holiday specials and seasonal menus are sure to top off the night right.
The Week of Christmas , opens in a new window
Locals know that the week of Christmas at Northstar is full of decor, activities and holiday cheer, but not the crowds! So leave all of the planning to us this year with festivities include ornament decorating, storytime with Santa, family pictures and unforgettable memories.
On Christmas Eve, kids and kids-at-heart are invited to join Santa for an intimate breakfast to kick-off the holiday week. The kids will spend the morning ornament decorating while the adults can choose between either a complimentary Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Next, enjoy a delicious holiday spread for breakfast while Santa reads traditional Christmas stories.
Spend the rest of the week in the snow. Head over to the Adventure, Guiding and Learning Center where you’ll get outfitted in the latest demo gear, then head up the mountain for a day of skiing and epic views. Or spend the whole day up on the Overlook navigating our snow play zone, snow tubing and bungee trampoline activities.
Stick around through the week for S’moresapalooza, an event that takes over the Village on December 29th. Meander around the Village while stopping at several s’mores stations, all with different flavors and combinations of s’mores including bacon, white chocolate and fried bananas.
After getting your marshmallow and chocolate fill, head on over to the Cross Country Center (located just to the left of Vista lift) and explore miles of untouched terrain via snowshoe, cross country skiing or telemark skiing - they even have carrier sleds for the little ones.
An unforgettable week sure to put a smile on everyone's face.
