Team Vision  The Big Mountain team program is designed to develop confidently skilled and well-rounded skiers who want to pursue a life long development and passion in the sport. Allowing athletes to excel in big mountain and backcountry explorations and competitions. 

Program Description

The Big Mountain team athletes will be working on fulfilling long-term season goals on an individual and team basis. Athletes will receive high end coaching to set them up for success in achieving their goals as well as progressing their individual skill sets to later be challenged by in house competition and travel.
Program Focus  The Big Mountain team program will focus on developing advanced skiing technique based on the skill card pipeline appropriate for athletes.
Ages 10 - 18
Training Schedule/Start Dates 11/19/2016
Program Times Determined by coach on team calendar
Minimum Skill Level  Athletes must be able to consistently link carved turns without stopping on advanced runs such as Burnout or Iron horse on the Backside as well as in the Trees off of East Ridge. Athletes must also have some level of prior park experience including sliding small boxes and clearing small jumps.

Athletes at the appropriate skill levels will have the opportunity to compete in an in-house Woodchuck Cup series. 

In Season Travel:  All Athletes will be encouraged to participate to travel to other mountains around the Tahoe Basin as well as Colorado and Utah. These big mountain explorations will give athletes the opportunity to challenge their skills on new and exciting terrain.

Program Description

Our Alpine race U14 program is designed for the athlete that love to “ARC” a ski and wants to take their ski racing to the next level. This program emphasizes the teaching of skiing skills through an emphasis on Alpine Ski Racing. Skill development will be built through a planned progression of directed free skiing and gate training.  Our goal is to develop a lifelong passion for the sport of skiing in addition to healthy competition. Athletes will train and compete in Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G. Our alpine race coaches will provide skill development in the areas of All Mtn Skiing, Moguls, dynamic skiing in all conditions, and race training. Days on the hill will include 60% directed free skiing in all terrain and turn shape, and 40% gate drills/race training. “We can only make good skiers fast” -Dir. NSST Aaron Atkins

Athletes have the option of racing in the Far West race series which is part of USSA or in the Tahoe League. Travel may be required. Travel costs are additional for all Competition trips and camps outside of the Tahoe Basin.
Training Camp Options

Spring Camp (May or June) – fundamentals, equipment testing, GS based @ Mammoth, Mt Bachelor, or Mt Hood

Summer Camp (July or Aug) – SL, GS Camp fundamentals, tactics @ Mt Hood

Fall Camp (Nov) – SL, GS Camp GS, SL tactics and race prep @ Mammoth
