Our Alpine race U18 program is designed for the competitive-minded elite athlete to take their ski racing to the highest level within Regional and National Competition.  We have the highest expectations for the coaches and athletes on this team. Our athletes should be engaged and focused during training sessions with a clear objective of maximizing their potential as a ski racer.  Athletes will train and compete in Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G and Downhill. Our alpine race coaches will provide skill development in the areas of appropriate goal setting, planning and training/racing opportunities, appropriate equipment choices, summer on-snow opportunities as well as dry land recommendations.  Days on the hill will include gate training, race-specific drills and directed free skiing.

Program Description

The program develops and builds skiing fundamentals to enhance the athlete’s overall skiing ability.  Athlete’s train and compete in Slalom and Giant Slalom with speed elements (Super G & Downhill) introduced.  Our coaches provide skill development in the areas of appropriate goal setting, planning and training/racing opportunities, appropriate equipment choices, summer on-snow opportunities as well as dry land training recommendations.  Training on the hill will include gate training, race-specific drills, free skiing drills, directed free skiing and video analysis.
Program Focus The program consists of approximately 70% race oriented training, consisting of gates, gate drills, race simulation, and video analysis.  30% will consist of directed free skiing, to include fundamental skill development, on and off piste skiing, moguls, games and other on snow activities. An introduction to physical conditioning and assessment, nutrition, sports psychology, and ski care and tuning.         
Ages 18 to 80+

9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  Team will meet at various locations depending on training location.

Note: Earlier meet times or later release times may occur.  In addition, these times may be modified by other training requirements, weather and/or snow conditions.

Most (not required) athletes will be racing in Club Races and/or the Far West Masters race series which is part of USSA.  Most races are held in the Tahoe Basin area, but some travel may be required.  Travel costs are athlete’s responsibility.
