Well it's here, The biggest Tahoe League race of the year, Northstar's annual Big G. Possibly the biggest Northstar race ever. This is the one for our athletes to shine!!!!!
Quick checklist for Saturday morning.
1: Check in with Melissa on the lower level of the Big Springs Lodge (Mid-Mountain) prior to 8:15. The gondola will open at 8:00 AM, so you will need to be in line so as to catch an early car. Anyone not having a TL bib will receive one and you can sign any missing paperwork or waivers.
2: All of our athletes need to be outside, bottom of Vista Chair by 8:30. DO NOT BE LATE!!!!! This will be a complicated inspection of the course. There are lot of strategy and tactics involved in having a highly successfull race. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A ONE RUN RACE!!
There will be no second chances!!!
3: Inspection will begin at 9:00 and go to 10:15 (extended). I would like for our athletes to make 2 inspection runs. The race will begin at 10:30 AM. Race order is youngest to oldest (yes Jack you have to go last!).
4: Because of the numbers of athletes, it will be important for our athletes to keep skiing and moving, to stay loosened up and ready to race. They will need to lap Vista Chair and check in at the top each time around. It is also important for them to have snacks and water (yes Renee, we know you will be hungary!!!).
5: It is also important for them to be early for their start so that we can apply the fast wax necessary for this race. (Yes we will have the "magic" stuff for the skis)
6: It will probably a long day, but it would be much appreciated if all could be at the awards ceremony, in the Village (Ice Rink Stage),
1 hour after the last athlete.
7: Anyone who has not waxed and tuned your skis, PLEASE do so.
Red wax will be a good base layer. While we have "fast wax" for the race itself, the skis need a good base layer of wax to be their fastest.
8: Skiing parents will be able to access the middle of the course via Upper Drop Off and the 500 Road. This is a great place to see about 80% of the Logger's pitch and most of the flat.
SUNDAY: We will train slalom on Dutchman, everyone will need their slalom skis, shin guards and face guards back on your helmets for the day.
regular meeting time of 8:30, bottom of Vista.
Anything else that I can think of will be in a future e-mail.
