We offer pre-sell and rental pick up from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. daily.
What types of equipment do you have?
We offer K2 skis and Burton Snowboards.
Ski boots are Dalbelo, Nordica, Lange. Our snowboard boots are Burton.
Where are you located?
The rental shop is located in the Village at Northstar at the end of Copper Lane on your way to Big Springs Gondola. There is a second rental shop location at the new Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe for guests lodging at the hotel.
Can I just rent boots or just Skis or Snowboards?
You have the option of renting skis or snowboards separately and we do have an option for snowboard boots only. If you need to rent just ski boots, you must go to our Demo location. (Located next to the Ice Rink past Rubicon)
Do you rent bindings?
Northstar Resort does not offer this option.
Do you have equipment for children under 4?
Our equipment is not based on age but the shoe size of the individual. We rent boots from size 1.5 to 15.
Where do I pick up rentals for my child?
All kids pick up their equipment rental at our Village Rental location unless they are enrolled in our Kids Ski + Board School and than we offer rental equipment with each lesson.
What boot sizes do you have?

Do you rent clothing?
We rent pants, jackets, and helmets with limited sizes for kids. Goggles, gloves are offered for purchase.
Do you take reservations?
Yes, guests can make advanced rental reservations online or by calling 1.800.GO.NORTH.Guests lodging at the new Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe hotel can rent ski and snowboard equipment from our convenient rental shop located at the hotel. Reservations are not required for equipment rentals at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe hotel location.
When do I need to return my rental equipment and where?
We ask that our guests return their equipment by 5:00 p.m. the same day. Skis and snowboards can be returned at the Gondola, and all ski or snowboard boots need to be returned at the Village Rental Shop.
Do you offer any rental specials or deals?
Yes, we offer an Unlimited Rental Season Pass for $229 for Adults and $129 for kids ages 12 & under which includes unlimited equipment rental and free tunes every 4 days. Visit here for all our resort specials.
Do you rent ski bikes or snow blades?
No, however they are allowed on the mountain
What is the Rental Procedure?
Our shop is unique in its procedures and we pride ourselves on our service, efficiency, and quality of your experience.
When you first arrive at the shop you will be greeted and assigned a computer station to fill out all of the required information for the rental. You will need to know height, weight, age, and skier type.
You will next proceed to the cashier where they will make sure you are provided with all the necessary items to ensure a good day. Please make sure you have a major credit card to cover the deposit. You can purchase lift tickets, your rental, lessons, and signature products such as our Rental Season Pass.
Once you've purchased everything you need for your day you can swing by our retail area to pick up those forgotten items such as goggles, sunscreen, or gloves.
If you have everything you need please head to one of our well marked boot counters to get either your ski or snowboard boots. You can grab a seat and if you need assistance there is staff standing by to aide you. As an added bonus we store your shoes for free while you are out enjoying your day on the hill. If you need store more gear we do have day lockers.
Once you have your boots on you are free to exit the shop to get your remaining gear. As you exit, your paperwork, so please keep it available, and your boots will be scanned. This sends the information to our techs located at the gondola building.
You will proceed up the short flight of stairs (follow the signage) and you will see mazes outside to your left. Each maze is broken down by the first letter of your last name. You will enter this maze where you will be met by one of our employees. Using your last name they will give you the equipment and answer any further questions you may have.
This completes your rental process and just a mere 50 feet away the Gondola waits to whisk you up the hill.
What type of equipment do you have to demo?
We carry the same equipment as we have in our ski and snowboard retail stores. This equipment varies from beginner / intermediate to advanced, from groomers to deep powder. Our skis consist of K2, Nordica, Volkl, Atomic, Dynastar, Blizzard and Rossi. Ski boots consist of Technica, Nordica, Lange and Atomic and our poles are K2. Snowboards we carry are Rome, Burton, Stepchild, DC, K2, Forum and Coalition (Burton special Edition). The boots and bindings we carry are Burton.
What is the difference between rental and demo equipment?
Rental is a baseline piece of equipment geared towards everyday consumer. Our Demo equipment is a selection of higher end retail skis and snowboards geared towards the educated consumer.
Can my child demo equipment?
Yes, but we have a limited selection of children's ski equipment in the demo shops. We offer junior skis from a 138cm to 150cm.and snowboards from 130cm. to 150cm. Any person under the age of 18 must have a parent's signature to demo or rent equipment.
What size of equipment do you have?
We carry a large selection of equipment to suit most everyone's needs. Men's skis are from 157cm to 194cm and men's ski boots are from a size 7 to a 13 ½ . Men's snowboards range from 150cm to a 167cm and men's snowboard boots are from size 7 to a 13. Woman's skis range from 144cm to 168cm and woman's ski boots range from size 4 ½ to a 10 ½ . Woman's snowboards range from 143cm to 156cm and woman's snowboard boots range from size 5 to a 9.5. We also carry limited supplies of junior skis and snowboards ranging from 130cm to a 150cm.
Where are you located?
We have three demo shop locations. One is located by our Ice Rink in the Village next to Rubicon Pizza. Our second location is at mid-mountain as you exit the Big Springs Gondola. And our third demo shop is located in the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe at mid-mountain which is primarily used for our Ritz-Carlton guests.
Do you demo boots?
Yes, you can demo ski or snowboard boot only or you can demo boots as a package with skis or snowboards.
Do you sell equipment at the end of the year?
Yes, the dates that we start selling equipment varies year to year but it usually starts around mid March.
Can you pick up demo equipment in the Village Rental shop?
No, however our Demo Locations are right in the heart of the village and easily accessed at our mid-mountain locations.
