June 10, 17, 24: Reno Bike Project
Reno Bike Project (RBP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit community bicycle shop and advocacy group committed to creating a nationally recognized, cycling-friendly community through advocacy, education, and cooperation in the Truckee Meadows.
Through our advocacy and activities, Reno Bike Project supports a healthy lifestyle through an environmentally friendly activity. The Reno Bike Project accomplishes this through making bicycling more affordable for the Truckee Meadows community, and through programs such as the Major Taylor Program.
In terms of charitable giving, one such program that Reno Bike Project engages in is Free Wheels for the Kids. Each year, Reno Bike Project refurbishes and donates bicycles to community partners who then distribute these bicycles to families living in extreme need, many of whom are currently living in temporary housing. In the past, Reno Bike Project has donated over 400 bikes.
July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29: Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe
The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through adoptions, community spay/neuter services and humane education programs.
August 5, 12, 19, 26: Project Mana
Historically, Project MANA’s role in the community has been to act as a safety net for the low-income community and, in particular, individuals and families who are “food insecure” (food insecure = not knowing where your next meal will come from). We accomplish this in the form of weekly food distributions that include fresh produce, dairy products, non-perishable food items, and baked goods. We also deliver food to community members that cannot attend regular distributions due to physical or mental limitations.
