Join us for Carve Tahoe, an international snow sculpture celebration! Come watch the carvers sculpt from February 8 - 12, 2013, followed by rounds of spectator judging and the Carve Awards Ceremony on February 13.

Carve Tahoe is a week-long international snow sculpture event where you are invited to watch teams transform 20-ton blocks of pure, white Northstar snow into breathtaking masterpieces.  And this is no amateur hour. The teams competing are the best of the best – selected from applications sent in from all over the world. The lead judge for Carve Tahoe is Lawrence Noble, Chairman of the Sculpture department at Academy of Art University and an award-winning sculptor and illustrator.  He is well-known for his famous Yoda Sculpture created for George Lucas and on display in the Presidio of San Francisco, CA.

For more information please visit the Carve Tahoe website at www.CarveTahoe.com or "Like" Carve Tahoe on Facebook.

The Teams

  • Team Canada
  • Team Veistomania Finland
  • Team Germany
  • Team Idaho/USA
  • Team Japan
  • Team USA California Tahoe/Truckee
  • Team USA/ Idaho
  • Team Wisconsin

The Judging

1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded as determined by the panel of judges listed on the Carve Tahoe Judges page.

Judge for Yourself - Donate With Your Vote!

In addition, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite sculpture while donating to the Sierra Avalanche Center. While the highlight of Carve is the talent and skill of the snow carvers from Finland, Germany, Japan, Russia, Canada and the US, of course no event would be complete without a little charity thrown in.  Every $1 donated per spectator vote will go to the Sierra Avalanche Center, a local non-profit. Enjoying a refreshing Sapporo beer and delicious sushi at Mikuni after a long day on the mountain, watching the sculptors create massive works of art, and giving back to charity...Sounds like a seriously good time!

  • The Avalanche Award: Guests 16 and older, cast your vote! The fan favorite that receives an avalanche of votes will win the Avalanche Award.
  • The Snowflake Award: Guests 15 and under, vote for your favorite sculpture!
