Tahoe Star Tours


Experience the wonder and awe of the dark skies above Northstar California during our popular Tahoe Star Tours!

There are several opportunities from December 21st to February 11th, 2017  to join Star Guide extraordinaire, Tony Berendsen, owner of Tahoe Star Tours and former president of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition, as he leads you on an exploration of the skies. He’ll provide an informative Star Tour Astronomy presentation, a laser tour of the sky, and telescopic viewing through multiple state-of-the-art computerized Celestron telescopes. And new this year Tahoe Star Tours will incorporate use of Celestron’s newest technology, optimized for photography, which will include an astro imaging demonstration allowing stargazers to take pictures of what they’re viewing in space and share them through their own social media networks.

Stargazing Snowshoe Tours 

 Dec 21st, Dec 28th, Jan 14th, Feb 11th
Explore the dark skies above Northstar California on a snowshoe tour featuring telescopic viewing with Star Guide and poet, Tony Berendsen. The 2 – 2.5 hour guided tour begins at the Cross Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center at 5 p.m. The group will meander through the serene forest while observing the starry sky above, ultimately concluding the tour at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. Each event will include a laser tour of the cosmos using state-of-the-art Celestron telescopes.Guests will have the chance to unwind beside a fire pit while sipping cocoa and hot cider, wine and other adult beverages will be available for purchase.

Twilight Snowshoe Tours 

Dec 17th, Dec 24th, Dec 30th, Jan 7th Jan 21st, Jan 28th, Feb 4th, Feb 18th, Feb 25th, March 4th, March 11th 
Take an evening to slow down and enjoy the peaceful setting of the Sierra Nevada during Northstar’s guided, evening snowshoe tours. The 2 - 2.5 hour tour begins at the Cross Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center at 5 p.m. The group will meander through the pine tree-lined forest, ultimately concluding the tour at The Village at Northstar. During the adventure, snowshoer’s will also relax around a fire pit to enjoy live acoustic music, s’mores and hot chocolate. Dogs on leashes are welcome to join-in on the fun. 


Family Afternoon Snowshoe Tours 

Dec 25th, Jan 1st, Jan 15th, Feb 19th

Bring the kids to Northstar for an afternoon of exploring the great outdoors in a fun, unintimidating, family-friendly atmosphere. The 3 hour tours are open to all ages and ability levels as the trail is designed for the entire family to enjoy. A guide will lead the group through some of the easier trails to a historic red caboose set in an alpine meadow where snowshoe enthusiasts will delight in hot chocolate, cookies and snow play!
